Planning Board
Planning Board applications are accepted inside Town Hall at 8 Maple Street. Meetings are held in person upstairs in Town Hall and via Zoom video conferencing but are subject to change. The Planning Board holds public hearings on the first Thursday of each month.
The Sandwich Planning Board is appointed by the Board of Selectman to regulate and guide development within the Town so it occurs at an orderly and reasonable rate. The Sandwich Zoning Ordinance and supporting regulations reflect the wishes of the citizenry as expressed through the ballot and the comprehensive Master Plan.
The Planning Board considers proposals by private landowners, the Town, private utilities, and corporations with an aim to balance the rights of private landowners with the needs and wishes of the Sandwich community. The Planning Board also regularly reviews and proposes amendments to the Town’s Zoning Ordinance and regulations.
The Master Plan directs the Planning Board to preserve the scenic beauty and healthfulness of the Town giving particular attention to land use in the vicinity of lakes, ponds, streams, wetlands and steep slopes. This is done to preserve the natural beauty of the land, to preserve recreation lands and wildlife habitat, to maintain property values and to plan for public services.

2024 Meeting Dates and Application Deadlines
Applications are heard on the first Thursday of each month. Board business is conducted on the third Thursday of each month.
